Website design process
The steps to success
I get you. It's not that surprising really, as I've been in your shoes countless times.
You know you need something, but you're not really sure how to get there or what's involved.
Luckily, I'm a human too, so I know how you're feeling.
It's because of this that I've come up with this great guide on what will be involved in our journey together.
Read on to set your mind at ease.
Tell me what you want
I'll start by saying I'm not a mind reader. Inquisitive? Yes. Intuitive? Sometimes. Mind reader? Again, no.
So, you're best off to tell me what you want. It's surprising how often I'll get an email with someone saying they want a website... And that's it.
When you get in touch with me, give me a quick rundown of what you're looking for in your website content.
Do you want a website you can sell products on? Or subscriptions (automatic repeat purchases)?
Do you need to be able to have a membership login function for certain content?
Do you need just a fairly standard site with a bit of information?
Are you a not for profit that wants to get some more exposure?
There's lots of different options for website content, so the more information I have the better
I'll give you a price estimate
All projects are different. It is for this reason that I don't have a set price for website packages.
Once I've got all the relevant information from you about what you want from your website content and web design, I'll take a little time to figure out pricing.
There's lots of variables here - some projects will be quite clear cut, others will be complex and may even require that I collaborate with someone else for the project (don't worry, I'll sort all of that out and it will be included in the pricing estimate).
The other thing is, this is only a pricing estimate, not a quote. That is because there's sometimes changes to what's required that we can't foresee.
Once I've figured it all out on my end, I'll send through the web design pricing estimate for you to look over. You'll then let me know if you either accept it or not (hopefully not the latter).
Mock up
Once you've accepted the web design pricing estimate, I'll work on creating a mock up of a front page for your website. This is to give you a feel of my style and how I am thinking of laying out your website design.
I'll then send through an invoice for a 50% deposit for the whole project, along with the web design mockup.
Once you've received this web design mockup and paid your deposit, you can either give me the go ahead with the web design or let me know if you'd like anything changed.
Designing your website
This is the bit that takes some time. I'll work through the website design and website copywriting, getting any relevant content from you that I need.
Sometimes, there might be a bit of a change in what you require. That's fine, it happens! If it ends up being a bit beyond what I initially accounted for in the web design pricing estimate, I'll let you know and we can dicuss costs at this point.
Please also bear in mind that if there's some delays in getting content from you, I may need to charge progress payments!
Handing over the reins
Congratulations! You've paid for your brand new website design and you're good to go.
I'll send you through the login details for your Rocketspark Dashboard. From here you can pay to upgrade your account and set your site to go live.
If you need any help with this stage, Rocketspark has a great local support team that really know their stuff.
You can also talk to me about a training session to give you an idea of how to edit content yourself, if you feel this is something you would benefit from.
Website design and website copywriting complete!
Well, here we are. You've paid the money, set your site live and have the reins.
It's been an awesome journey.
